Lectra Zings Eastman Over Cutting-Machine Patent

Law360, New York (October 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Lectra SA and its stateside subsidiary have launched a lawsuit against Eastman Machine Co. and an affiliate, alleging the companies infringe a patent related to a fabric-cutting system.

The complaint, lodged in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Georgia, claims Eastman Machine makes cutting machines, sold by Sewn Products Equipment Co. in Georgia, that infringe Lectra’s patented method of cutting textiles.

Paris-based Lectra asserts U.S. Patent Number 5,867,392, titled, “Method for marking or cutting a material along predetermined paths.”
