Medegen Unit Hits ICU Medical With Suit

Law360, New York (July 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A unit of medical device maker Medegen LLC has slapped ICU Medical Inc. with a lawsuit, accusing the rival of infringing on its patented technology for proprietary valves.

The parent company revealed the news on Monday, confirming that its medical manufacturing services (MMS) division had sued ICU Medical in a California federal court.

At the heart of the dispute is a patent that covers a number of Medegen’s “novel inventions” in luer-activated valves, including the use of positive displacement technology, according to the company.
