Future Looks Grim For Charitable Hospitals

Law360, New York (July 11, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- With bankrupt Saint Vincent Catholic Medical Center of New York recently forced to auction off two of its hospitals, experts are predicting that charitable hospitals in general face a bleak and uncertain future.

The beleaguered hospital chain may have found a June buyer for the pair of Queens medical centers but problems and threats of more closures continue to dominate Saint Vincent’s Chapter 11 proceedings.
