Serta Recalls 6,100 Mattresses As Fire Hazards

Law360 (October 29, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Serta International Mattress Co. has announced that it will recall over 6,000 mattresses amid fears that the mattresses pose a potential fire hazard to consumers.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on Tuesday announced the voluntary recall in conjunction with Serta of around 6,100 mattresses in over a dozen models.

According to the agency, the mattresses in question failed to meet the mandatory federal open flame standard for mattresses, although no injuries have been reported so far.
