Housing Slump Sends Jancor Cos. Into Ch. 11

Law360 (October 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Residental construction product conglomerate Jancor Companies Inc. filed for bankruptcy on Thursday, citing higher materials costs and a deteriorating housing market.

Jancor, which includes manufacturers of doors, windows, siding, fence and deck materials, indicated in its Chapter 11 filing that its businesses have ceased operations and said it will be conducting an orderly wind-down of the companies.

The filing, in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware, includes about a dozen separate companies operating under the umbrella of Jancor, including Vinyl Holdings LLC, Heartland...
