NYC Cabbies Stall Mayor's Gas-Efficiency Mandate

Law360 (October 31, 2008, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The Bloomberg administration's mandate for hybrid taxicabs in New York City hit a roadblock Friday, after a federal judge granted the taxicab industry's request for a preliminary injunction on the city's new fuel-economy regulations.

In the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, Judge Paul A. Crotty ruled that the taxicab industry representatives' argument that only the federal government can regulate emissions will likely win the case.
