Court Rules Spain Must Handle Endesa Investigation

Law360, New York (July 14, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The takeover case involving Spanish energy companies Gas Natural SDG SA and Endesa SA falls in the jurisdiction of Spanish regulators, according to a ruling handed down Friday by the European Court of First Instance.

The court ruled that since both companies do most of their business in Spain, it is up to the national regulator to look into the potential antitrust issues raised by Gas Natural’s takeover bid for Endesa.
