Five Suits Charge Blue Shield Abandoned Patients

Law360, New York (July 14, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Blue Shield of California has been hit with five new lawsuits that accuse the company of rescinding customers’ policies in the aftermath of expensive treatments, fattening its pockets while leaving ill people and the doctors that treat them in the lurch.

At least 10 other suits have been filed against the health insurance provider over what critics have termed a “rescission scheme.”
