Workers Settle Claims With Recruiter, Atty In Trafficking Suit

Law360, New York (February 3, 2016, 3:52 PM EST) -- A Louisiana federal judge on Wednesday granted a request by Indian workers to withdraw their bid for $5.1 million in attorneys' fees from a recruiter and immigration attorney accused of breaking promises of green cards in a human trafficking scheme, a day after the workers said they reached a settlement.

U.S. District Judge Daniel E. Knowles III ordered that the workers' motion for attorneys' fees against Sachin Dewan and his company Dewan Consultants, as well as attorney Malvern Burnett and his law firm, be withdrawn without prejudice, saying they could refile the request if the settlements do not get finalized....
