Neb. Voters Ban Affirmative Action

Law360, New York (November 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Nebraska has become the latest state to make it illegal for government and public institutions to assert sex- and race-based affirmative action when hiring or awarding contracts.

Voters in the Cornhusker state passed the constitutional ban Tuesday by a 58 percent margin, with 389,372 people casting votes for the initiative and 287,233 against it.
