E.C. Still Waiting For France's €1.14B State Aid Payout

Law360, New York (July 19, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Refusing to back down from the French government, the European Commission is taking its state aid complaint over France Télécom to the European Court of Justice, in hopes of recovering up to €1.14 billion.

The E.C. said that France had failed to make concrete efforts to pay up after the regulator decided in July 2002 that certain tax breaks for the telecom constituted illegal aid.
