Plains All American Settles State Claims Over Oil Spill

Law360 (November 7, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Plains All American Pipeline LP has handed over some $1.1 million in civil settlement payments to various California state agencies in by federal authorities.

In a filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, the company disclosed its settlement payments Friday, stemming from a 2005 oil spill from a severed pipeline that discharged 3,400 barrels of crude oil into Pyramid Lake, a recreation site and drinking water reservoir north of Los Angeles. The pipeline was split in a landslide after a heavy rain.
