Law360, New York (July 21, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A long-vacant position at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission may soon be filled, with the agency reportedly slated to name Conrad Hewitt as its chief accountant.

The Commission is likely to officially announce Hewitt’s appointment within the next few days, according to wire reports that cite people familiar with the matter.

Hewitt will fill a position that has been vacant since last fall, when Donald Nicolaisen left the agency to rejoin the private sector.
