Copyright Litigation Wanes As Landscape Shifts

Law360 (November 13, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The number of new copyright suits filed has hit a five-year low as the recording industry continues to wrap up a massive piracy campaign against individual file sharers, according to the 2009 Law360 Litigation Almanac.

Analyzing the federal dockets from 2004 to 2008, Law360 researchers found a 21 percent drop-off in copyright suits filed during the five-year spread, with the decline sharpening over the past year.
