E.U. Claims U.S. Tips Scales In Airline Subsidy Talks

Law360, New York (July 25, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Taking a swipe at the United States over government subsidies to airlines, the E.U. trade chief complained Tuesday that the U.S. was trying to gain an unfair advantage for Boeing over France-based Airbus.

In talks to set up negotiations for resolving a lengthy dispute between the E.U. and U.S., Peter Mandelson, the E.U. trade commissioner, said without a win-win situation for both parties, neither side would be able to move toward negotiations.
