Jury Slaps NY Police Dept. $1M Verdict Over Sex Bias

Law360, New York (November 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A federal jury has sided against the Nassau County Police Department, ordering the agency to hand over $1 million to three female former detectives who allegedly experienced sexual harassment and discrimination at the hands of their fellow officers.

On Friday, the Central Islip jury returned the verdict after a six-week trial, marking a win for plaintiffs Noreen Cribbin, Pamela Olsen and Deirdre Ketcham after years of warring with the Long Island department.
