Skilling Request To Toss Convictions Denied

Law360, New York (July 26, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has shot down a bid by Jeffrey K. Skilling to overturn his fraud and conspiracy convictions, giving the green light to federal prosecutors to forge ahead in their case against the former chief executive of Enron Corp.

U.S. District Judge Sim Lake handed down the ruling Tuesday, giving no explanation for his denial of Skilling’s request.

Skilling’s attorneys argued in court documents in June that the evidence presented at trial was insufficient to sustain a conviction.
