Calif. Raises Renewable Energy Standards — Again

Law360, New York (November 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Raising the bar on California’s already ambitious plan to reduce carbon emissions, Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is requiring the state’s utilities to get one-third of their electricity from renewable sources by 2020.

Schwarzenegger signed an executive order Monday that mandates utilities to go beyond the existing requirement of obtaining 20 percent of their electricity load from renewable sources, such as wind and solar, by 2010.
