Fired Goldman Banker Avoids Prison Over Secret NY Fed Docs

Law360, New York (March 22, 2016, 5:14 PM EDT) -- A Manhattan federal judge sentenced former Goldman Sachs banker Rohit Bansal to community service Tuesday for directing a former Federal Reserve Bank of New York staffer to send him confidential information about government supervision of banks.

U.S. Magistrate Judge Gabriel W. Gorenstein also hit the former Eagle Scout with a $5,000 fine in a sentence handed down a week after Bansal's co-defendant — former Fed staffer Jason Gross — avoided prison for passing on confidential documents. Gross was sentenced March 16.
