Judge Tosses Patent Case Against Stryker

Law360, New York (July 26, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Under investigation by the U.S. Department of Justice for alleged price-fixing, Stryker Corp. received a piece of good news this week when it won a summary judgment decision dismissing a patent infringement lawsuit brought against it by Luma Corp.

According to Judge David A. Faber of the U.S. District Court in Bluefield, W. Va., Stryker and co-defendant Karl Storz Endoscopy-America did not violate a patent covering a system that allows doctors to capture images of surgical sites during endoscopic procedures.
