US Seeks Late Claim In Asarco Bankruptcy

Law360 (November 24, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. government has sought leave to file late proofs of claim associated with cleanup costs at a Pacific Northwest copper and tungsten mine in the Asarco LLC bankruptcy case.

The motion, made Friday on behalf of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, was filed in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the Southern District of Texas. It relates to $106,000 spent to investigate environmental liability at an abandoned site at the 114-year-old Kelly Camp Mine in the Colville National Forest in northeast Washington.
