Converse Loses Protection For Chuck Taylor Trade Dress
Law360, New York (June 23, 2016, 6:32 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission on Thursday invalidated a trademark for Converse’s Chuck Taylor shoe that Wal-Mart, Skechers and New Balance had been found to infringe, while also issuing a broad general exclusion order barring all shoes from entering the U.S. that infringe on two other marks for the iconic sneaker.
The commission adopted some of the findings issued by an administrative law judge in November, specifically that Converse holds two valid trademarks on the outsole layout of the famous canvas sneaker.
