MDL Panel Consolidates Polar Bear Cases

Law360 (December 5, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Four closely watched lawsuits being waged over federal protections for the polar bear have been consolidated to streamline a contentious and increasingly complex array of litigation.

The U.S. Judicial Panel on Multidistrict Litigation decided Wednesday to centralize the polar bear litigation in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, where three actions are currently under way.

The decision calls for the transfer of a fourth case filed by the Center for Biological Diversity in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California....
