General Mills Urged To Revise Yogurt Marketing

Law360, New York (December 9, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Better Business Bureau's National Advertising Division has asked General Mills Inc. to change its advertising for Yoplait Yo-Plus yogurt after rival probiotic-yogurt maker Dannon filed a complaint about the accuracy of the advertisements' claims.

On Dec. 4, NAD urged General Mills to modify its advertising of digestive health benefits for Yoplait Yo-Plus yogurt following studies that suggested some of its health claims lacked standing.

Dannon, a manufacturer of rival probiotic-yogurt brand Activia, had complained earlier to NAD that several Yo-Plus advertising claims were unfounded....
