GPS Patent Is Invalid Under Alice, Texas Judge Affirms

Law360, Los Angeles (May 16, 2016, 10:50 PM EDT) -- A Texas federal judge on Monday adopted a magistrate judge's recommendation that a GPS patent belonging to Rothschild Location Technologies LLC is invalid under the U.S. Supreme Court's Alice decision, rejecting Rothschild's objections to the findings.

U.S. Magistrate Judge John D. Love issued a report in January granting motions to dismiss by Geotab USA Inc. and others who were sued by Rothschild for alleged infringement of a patent related to the use of a GPS device to retrieve an address.
