9th Circ. Affirms Decision In Renoir Fight

Law360, New York (December 10, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Descendants of famed artist Pierre-Auguste Renoir violated the copyright on 11 sculptures Renoir created in collaboration with fellow French artist Richard Guino by selling the sculptures in 2003, an appeals court has ruled.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit on Tuesday affirmed a lower court's ruling against Renoir's great-grandson Jean-Emmanuel Renoir in a suit filed by the French trust that manages the rights of the Guino family with regard to the sculptures.
