Troubled Thacher Seeks King & Spalding Takeover

Law360 (December 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Thacher Proffitt & Wood LLP is reportedly scrambling to avoid dissolution by reaching out to King & Spalding LLP about the possibility of taking over most of the struggling firm.

The New York-based firm, which has been hit hard by the financial meltdown, has been engaged in talks with King & Spalding for the past few months, and the firms are looking to come to an agreement by the end of year, according to a Thursday report by Legal Times citing sources familiar with the discussions....
