Judge Bats Down Dreier Founder's $10M Bail

Law360 (December 11, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A judge has reportedly denied Dreier LLP founder Marc Dreier's request to be released from custody on $10 million bond.

The prominent New York lawyer was charged in Manhattan federal court on Monday on his return from Toronto, where he had been arrested for impersonating the legal adviser to a pension fund.

At the indictment, prosecutors accused Dreier of defrauding several hedge funds of over $100 million. But during Thursday's hearing, Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Streeter claimed that the actual monetary losses involved in Dreier's case...
