Enviros Appeal To 9th Circ. In Aussie LNG Loan Suit
Law360, New York (May 27, 2016, 7:06 PM EDT) -- Environmentalists on Thursday said they'll ask the Ninth Circuit to overturn a California federal judge's decision not to block the U.S. Export-Import Bank from completing two loans worth $4.8 billion to two Australian liquefied natural gas projects in the Great Barrier Reef.
The Center for Biological Diversity, Pacific Environment, and Turtle Island Restoration Network sued the Ex-Im Bank in December 2012, alleging that the Australia Pacific LNG Project would harm the Great Barrier Reef World Heritage Area, and later amended the complaint to add the Queensland Curtis LNG Project.
