US Fights Claims That Calif. Forests Ill-Protected

Law360 (December 15, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- A group of government agencies is fighting a lawsuit by the Sierra Club and others alleging that management plans for several large California forests don't do enough to protect endangered species, saying the plaintiffs' claims lack any basis in fact or in law.

The cross-motion for summary judgment was filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California by the U.S. Forest Service, the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the National Marine Fisheries Service....
