Obama To Tap FINRA's Schapiro For SEC: Reports

Law360, New York (December 17, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- President-elect Barack Obama will reportedly nominate Mary Schapiro, the current chief executive officer of the Financial Services Regulatory Authority, to be chairwoman of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

An announcement on the selection is expected Thursday, The Wall Street Journal and Bloomberg News reported late Wednesday, citing people familiar with the matter.

Schapiro would be the first female to become regulator of the SEC, the top securities regulator in the United States.
