5 Escape Abbott's Test Strip RICO Suit With Settlement
Law360, New York (June 17, 2016, 8:33 PM EDT) -- Two companies and three individuals have escaped Abbott Laboratories’ Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act suit over allegedly improper domestic sales of international versions of Abbott’s diabetes test strips by settling for a total of $25,000, according to documents filed Friday in New York federal court.
Papoutsanis USA LLC, Norstrand Pharmacy LLC, George Drogaris, Sarathchandra Adusumalli and Hemagiri Gayam all settled out of Abbott’s case, which claims that a number of pharmacies and distributors bought international FreeStyle and FreeStyle Lite blood glucose test strips at lower, foreign prices and sold them to U.S. customers.
