STMicroelectronics, OPTi Settle Tech Patent Suit

By Julie Zeveloff (December 18, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Semiconductor maker STMicroelectronics Inc. is the first of eight companies to reach a settlement with OPTi Inc. in an infringement suit over two patents related to OPTi's compact ISA-bus technology.

OPTi and ST filed a joint motion for dismissal with prejudice Wednesday in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Texas, writing that they had settled all claims between them.

Each party will pay its own costs and attorneys' fees, the motion said. No other details of the settlement were available Thursday.
