Cree, BU Settle With Bridgelux Over LED Patents

Law360 (December 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- Light-emitting diode maker Cree Inc. and Boston University have agreed to settle litigation with LED newcomer Bridgelux Inc., thus ending a patent dispute that pitted one brother against another.

Under the settlement, Cree granted Bridgelux a license to the patents-at-issue in exchange for a license fee and royalties. The companies also entered into a supply agreement under which Cree will become a significant supplier to Bridgelux, the companies said.

The monetary terms of the settlement were undisclosed.
