Chamber Of Commerce Calls For USPTO Reforms

Law360 (December 30, 2008, 12:00 AM EST) -- In its recommendations for the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has urged the incoming Obama administration to renegotiate the current fee schedule, increase patent quality by encouraging continuous training for examiners and push to turn the agency into a government corporation.

The business organization pointed to the USPTO's massive backlog, the renewed possibility of patent reform legislation and the limited examining experience of the agency's current staff as some of the key issues facing the incoming administration of President-elect Barack Obama....
