CFTC, Ga. Fund Ask To Reopen Fraud Suit For Deal Approval

Law360, New York (July 8, 2016, 3:09 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission asked a Georgia federal judge on Thursday to reopen its suit against a commodities pool operator accused of running a fraudulent fund that took $505,000 from investors, after the two sides reached an agreement on a settlement.

Terms of the settlement weren't disclosed, but the pool of funds run by Hendrik A. Van Beuningen of Brookhaven, Georgia, and his company, DeBrink Trading Fund I LLC of Atlanta allegedly settled its dispute with the CFTC on May 25, according to court documents.
