Jury Hands JCM $11.4M In Casino Device Dispute

Law360, New York (January 6, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Las Vegas jury has found that MEI Inc.’s devices used in casino games infringed Japan Cash Machine Co. Ltd.’s patent and awarded the company more than $11.4 million in damages.

JCM said Tuesday the jury in the U.S. District Court for the District of Nevada reached a verdict determining that MEI’s CashFlow SC Series violated four separate claims of U.S. Patent Number 5,372,361, which covers a bill-handling apparatus used in gaming machines.
