Ameren Settles CAA Claims With $2M Deal For Enviro Projects

Law360, New York (July 22, 2016, 3:34 PM EDT) -- Ameren Missouri has reached a $2 million settlement with the Sierra Club over alleged Clean Air Act violations by exceeding air quality standards at the company's Labadie, Meramec and Rush Island coal-fired power plants, the environmental group said Thursday.

The $2 million will go toward environmentally beneficial projects, with at least half of that earmarked for promoting the use of clean electric buses in the St. Louis region, the Sierra Club said. The settlement stemmed from a lawsuit filed by the Sierra Club in March 2014 that alleged nearly 8,000 CAA violations at the three plants between 2009 and 2013....
