Medtronic, Others Fall Under Antitrust Scrutiny

Law360 (August 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A complaint has been lodged with a British competition watchdog against three U.S. health care giants for the alleged price-fixing of pacemakers, according to published reports.

The U.K. Office of Fair Trading has received a complaint against Boston Scientific Corp.’s Guidant unit, St. Jude Medical Inc. and Medtronic Inc., Dow Jones reported on Monday.

The office has yet to launch a formal investigation into the alleged misdeeds but a probe into the powerful trio’s activities is said to be looming, according to Sunday’s New York Times....
