India Readies Optical Media Law

Law360 (January 23, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- India is preparing legislation to curb optical disk piracy with measures to require licensing of disk makers and tracking codes on every disk, business daily Financial Express reported on Friday.

The groundwork for the Optical Disc Law will be completed in the next couple of months, the newspaper reported, citing a government source. The draft legislation would be taken to the cabinet once the next government is in place.
