U.S. Rep. Tauzin Mulls PhRMA Presidency

Law360, New York (January 24, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- U.S. Representative W.J. "Billy" Tauzin is close a decision on whether to retire from politics to take over the helm at the pharmaceutical industry's trade association, after turning down an offer to succeed Jack Valenti as the film industry's top lobbyist, the Washington Post reported over the weekend.

The Louisiana Republican, who rejected the offer from the Motion Picture Association of America on Thursday night, is weighing an offer from the Pharmaceutical Research and Manufacturers of America (PhRMA), according to the Washington Post.
