Solar Cell Rivals Spar Over ‘Voltaix’ Trademark

Law360, New York (January 13, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Solar cell and superconductor technology manufacturer Voltaix LLC has sued rival NanoVoltaix Inc. for trademark infringement, alleging that the company’s moniker is too similar to Voltaix's and could mislead customers.

Voltaix filed the lawsuit in the U.S. District Court of New Jersey on Monday for trademark infringement and unfair competition, alleging that the defendant was trying to profit from Voltaix’s brand recognition.

“Defendant has simply added the generic term ‘nano’ as a prefix to the highly distinctive Voltaix name and mark,” the complaint said.
