BlackBerry Hits Fla. Cellphone Maker With Infringement Suit

By Kurt Orzeck (August 17, 2016, 4:55 PM EDT) -- BlackBerry Ltd. on Tuesday hit Miami-based cellphone maker Blu Products Inc. with a suit accusing it of infringing eight of BlackBerry's technology patents through its sale of various mobile phones, tablets and smartphones, and through its software for mobile communication devices.

The suit claims that, through the alleged infringement, Blu has made substantial money selling 2G, 3G and LTE-compliant products that incorporate BlackBerry's technology. Blu sells the products throughout the U.S. without a license from BlackBerry, according to the complaint.
