Farm Tool Dealer Can't Hide John Deere Fight, 6th Circ. Says

Law360, New York (August 22, 2016, 6:17 PM EDT) -- An Ohio farm equipment dealer's didn't manage to persuade the Sixth Circuit that its desire to keep its legal dispute with John Deere under wraps outweighs the public's interest in open access to court records, according to a decision published Friday.

In an opinion affirming a magistrate judge's order unsealing the case last year, a three-judge panel said Rudd Equipment Co. Inc. had focused on the consequences to its own business if the dispute was publicized but failed to point to any trade secret or third-party privacy rights that a court seal order is intended to protect.
