Sen. Reintroduces Bill To Curb Energy Speculation

Law360 (January 14, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- A Democratic U.S. senator is reviving efforts to curb speculation in the energy markets by reintroducing a bill that aims to ban all unregulated oil trading.

Sen. Bill Nelson, D-Fla., argued that speculators bore much of the blame for the dramatic swings in oil prices over the past year and that attempts to increase oversight of those energy traders in legislation passed last year as part of the farm bill didn't go far enough.
