LED Maker Settles With Columbia Professor

Law360 (August 8, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Toyoda Gosei Co. Ltd. has reached an agreement with Columbia University professor Gertrude Neumark Rothschild that will give it the rights to two patents related to light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Under the terms of the settlement, Neumark will drop her claims of patent infringement against Toyoda Gosei in return for Toyoda dropping its counterclaims against her. All claims were dismissed with prejudice, meaning they cannot be re-filed in court.

The other terms of the settlement remained undisclosed.
