Judge Won't Delay Rule Change In H-2A Visa Program

Law360 (January 16, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Two farmworkers unions have failed to show that a pending rule changing the federal H-2A guest worker visa program would immediately rob farmers of wages or cost them work, a judge has ruled, denying their request for an injunction.

On Thursday, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, Judge Ricardo M. Urbina refused the request of the two unions and eight individual workers to postpone the effective date of the H-2A visa rule change, which they contend will weaken farmworker protections.
