Asylum Research Files Counterclaims in Veeco Patent Suit

Law360 (January 26, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Asylum Research, a manufacturer of atomic force microscopes, on Monday filed counterclaims against Veeco Instruments in the patent lawsuit initiated by Veeco last year.

Veeco filed its lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California on Sept. 17, 2003. The lawsuit alleges that the manufacture, use and sale of Asylum's MFP-3D atomic force microscope constitute willful infringement of five patents owned by Veeco, as well as other claims.

Veeco is suing for unspecified monetary damages and a permanent injunction to stop infringement....
