Netflix, Wal-Mart Hit With Wave Of DVD Antitrust Suits

Law360, New York (January 26, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- Netflix Inc. and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are facing at least 17 federal antitrust class actions alleging the companies colluded to eliminate competition in the DVD online rental market, in a wave of related cases likely headed for consolidation.

On Friday, in the U.S. District Court for the District of Minnesota, lawyers for a purported class of consumers filed the latest antitrust case against Netflix and Wal-Mart, accusing the companies of market allocation in the DVD rental and sales markets, and monopolization in the DVD rental market....
