FTC Pauses Whole Foods Case To Weigh Settlement

Law360 (January 29, 2009, 12:00 AM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission has agreed to suspend its administrative case against Whole Foods Market Inc. over the company’s merger with rival Wild Oats Markets Inc. in order to review a settlement proposal from the organic grocery chain.

The agency issued an order Wednesday withdrawing the case until Feb. 5 at the request of the Austin, Texas-based natural foods retailer. Details on Whole Foods' settlement proposal were not released by the commission.
